In the event of an emergency abroad
1. Contact International SOS: 1-215-942-8478 (Member #: 11B824535) - You can call collect to not pay for charges.
If you have downloaded the ISOS Assistance App to your phone, you can call or chat with a representative with one touch.
At the start of your time abroad, your study abroad program may have provided you with a different emergency number to call. Be sure to check with your program to know if you should contact a different resource than ISOS in an emergency.
If you speak the local language, and have a life-threatening emergency, you can also contact the local police, ambulance, or fire department. Note that 911 is not a universal emergency number. Some locations have multiple numbers depending on the nature of the emergency.
Once you have contacted an emergency line, notify your host institution or program provider via their 24/7/365 number (usually provided during orientation).
3. Contact Yale University (if needed) via the 24-Hour Yale Security Line: 1-203-785-5555
You should always contact first those who can most readily assist you in country. However, if you need to reach our office, call Yale Security. This line is monitored 24/7/365. The operator will direct your call to our office line (1-203-432-8684) during business hours or an on-call staff member after hours.
4. Email Yale Study Abroad (if needed)
If you need to reach us, email is the most efficient way to contact the office. Email: studyabroad@yale.edu
If you experience any incident abroad that affects your health or safety, your program typically will notify Yale Study Abroad as part of their protocol. We are here for you the entire time you are abroad!
