Applying for Admission to Non-Yale Study Abroad Programs

You are here

Two-Part Application Process

  1. Apply to Yale Study Abroad for approval & to transfer your credit by the relevant deadline.
  2. Apply directly to your intended study abroad program for admission by the program's deadline. See below for more information.

Applying to Your Intended Program

Program deadlines can be earlier or later than Yale's deadlines, so be sure to check their website for details. Most Non-Yale programs accept students on a rolling basis and have a limited capacity. For these reasons, we encourage you to submit your application in advance of their stated deadline.

While program application requirements can vary, applications for admission to Non-Yale study abroad programs may include some or all of the following components. Contact your intended program with any questions about their application.

  • Non-Refundable Application Fee
  • Personal Statement
  • Official Transcript from Yale: You can request an official Yale transcript from the Yale Registrar.
  • Approval Form from Yale Study Abroad: You would email the form to the adviser for that region. Find the relevant study abroad adviser here.
  • Letter of Recommendation from Instructor
  • Release of Study Abroad Transcript: You may be asked where your transcript should be sent after completion of the program. An official copy needs to be sent directly to Yale Study Abroad. Electronic or hardcopy transcripts will be accepted.

Official electronic transcripts should be sent to: studyabroadtranscripts@yale.edu

Official hardcopy transcripts should be sent to:
