Tuition and other program fees are billed directly to your Yale student account. Detailed payment instructions are available in your MyCIPE account. See also YSS Programs Abroad: Costs & Funding.
Admitted students will be billed for two non-refundable fees. The non-refundable Program Deposit holds your place in the program and covers initial expenses incurred abroad related to your participation. The non-refundable Administrative Fee covers expenses incurred in arranging program logistics. For details on payments and the refund policy, visit YSS Programs Abroad: Costs & Funding.
While not directly billed by Yale, all program participants should plan financially for unbilled expenses, which include (but are not limited to): roundtrip airfare, meals not included in the program, vaccines, books, local transportation, passport/visa costs, health-related costs, and personal expenses. You are encouraged to review Budgeting Tips for assistance with estimating these costs. Additionally, regardless of whether you intend to use International Study Award (ISA) funding, you are encouraged to review the ISA travel expenses stipend amounts for the location where you plan to study abroad. Keep in mind that your unbilled expenses are based on many factors and may be higher or lower than what you estimate depending on your lifestyle and needs. Even students who receive 100% of an ISA should expect additional out-of-pocket costs.
Yale University students are automatically covered by International SOS (ISOS) for global travel assistance when more than 100 miles from their primary residence. This coverage is in effect for the duration of a student’s time at Yale; visiting students are covered by this plan only for the dates of the program. The plan also includes Out-of-Country Medical Care Coverage for up to $250,000 for new injuries or illness during the program dates.
For more information, please visit International SOS Global Travel Assistane web page.
New Haven on-campus housing is OPTIONAL. You will make your selection for New Haven on-campus housing in your MyCIPE account. Please note, however, that program-arranged housing while abroad is mandatory.
On-campus room and board costs in New Haven are listed on a single line here but are separate fees on your student bill. Fees associated with New Haven on-campus housing and meal plans will be completely waived for all students using any level of International Study Award (ISA) funding toward the relevant YSS Program Abroad. Students visiting from other campuses also are charged the Yale Health Plan fee while on campus.
