Emma is a senior in Pauli Murray College from Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. She is pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies. Emma studied abroad on the SIT IHP Food Systems program in Fall 2023, traveling to Ecuador, Malawi, and Spain. The semester abroad gave her an expanded understanding of what sustainable food systems look like in different contexts, and she is extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from and with people across the world. She even conducted her thesis research this past summer with folks she met on the program! Outside courses, she is involved in research and is on the executive board of the Rural Students' Alliance at Yale. Emma is excited to help students navigate the options for studying abroad during their time at Yale.

Evan studied abroad through the SIT IHP Health & Community program in New Delhi, India, Cape Town, South Africa, and Buenos Aires, Argentina in Spring 2024. This program gave her a new perspective on social medicine, global human rights, and anthropological research that she’s excited to bring back to her HSHM and public health classes at Yale. These experiences confirmed her passion for global health and are her inspiration for leading the Yale Humanities in Medicine Celebrations event and her aspiration to work on public health policy in her career. Evan is also involved in the Black Solidarity Conference at Yale, volunteering at Yale New Haven Hospital, and her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated.

Norma Mejia (she/her)

This transformative experience helped her solidify her interest in experimental photography and film production, which taught her new techniques that she is excited to embed in her film projects at Yale. Norma looks forward to connecting with students who are eager to complement their Yale experience with a study abroad program that best suits their goals and interests.
