Description

Examine the effects of conflict in northern Uganda and how local communities are working with government, grassroots organizations, and international NGOs to foster peace, justice, economic development, and sustainable reconciliation. This program examines the origins of the conflict in northern Uganda; issues of identity construction in the Ugandan context; and ongoing efforts by Ugandans to advance peace for community building and reconciliation. You will also study the challenges associated with displacement, compare and contrast judicial and non-judicial systems of justice, and get a comparative look at post-genocide development during the excursion to neighboring Rwanda.
