The Syracuse University Florence (SUF) program is approved for Art and History of Art majors only. SUF is dedicated to helping students understand the links between Florence’s artistic history and the significance of contemporary expression. Studio Arts course offerings include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, digital photography and renaissance painting techniques (fresco and egg tempera) on the SUF campus. In addition,
SUF offers more than a dozen courses in Italian history of art taught by internationally renowned scholars. Topics range from Ancient to Modern art, from painting and sculpture to architecture and urbanism.
Two-Part Application Process
Applying to a Year or Term Abroad or a Non-Yale Summer Abroad study abroad program is a two-part process. These are separate application processes with individual deadlines and can be done simultaneously.

- You must apply to Yale Study Abroad for approval to study abroad and the ability to transfer the credit back to your Yale degree. The designated list of programs on our website does not constitute pre-approval or automatic approval from Yale. You must apply to our office by the relevant deadline in order to be approved. This program is approved for Yale Art and History of Art majors only. Art students should apply to the Florence Center: Studio Arts track. History of Art students should apply to the Florence Center or Florence Center & Direct Enrollment at the University of Florence track.
