This page includes information about summer programs from universities that send their students to Yale Summer Session that may be of interest to you. 

Note: These programs are not on the Yale designated study abroad program list and have not been approved for credit. A summer program must be 4 weeks in length or longer to be eligible to petition for transfer credit. These programs are alternate opportunities that may be a good fit for your interests and goals. If it meets the petition requirements, you could petition for credit for one of these opportunities.

FAQ: International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU), Summer Courses, Many Locations

Yale is part of the IARU consortium. You may attend a course or program at an International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) partner university.

FAQ: University of Tokyo

Take part in the UTokyo Global Unit Courses (UTokyo GUC). We believe these online and on-demand courses offer a great opportunity to experience the University of Tokyo and Japan. The course contents range from humanities to social and natural sciences. They are taught entirely in English by cutting-edge scholars who are full-time faculty members of the university. In addition, we also offer Japanese language courses. Most of the courses can be completed in one week and the students will be granted Global Unit and a certificate will be issued upon completion of the course.

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Summer Institute offers a wide range of programmes from different faculties, providing quality learning. The programmes are open to all undergraduates and are best suited for students who are looking to expand their academic and cultural horizons during summer in one of the most vibrant cities in Asia.

This program in Beijing, China offers a wide spectrum of English-taught courses ranging from those specific to individual disciplines to the integration of multiple disciplines, such as philosophy, culture, literature, economics, politics, international relations, as well as traditional body exercise and sports. It also provides Chinese language courses to students at beginner's level.

Korea University, founded in 1905, is widely acknowledged as one of the country’s oldest, largest and top-ranked universities in Korea. Its reputation for quality is based on excellence in teaching, research and service to Korean society.

FAQ: Ashoka University, New Delhi, India

Ashoka University is India’s premier liberal arts university located outside the capital, New Delhi. With a fully residential campus, Ashoka is well-equipped with spaces for multidisciplinary learning, a sports complex, library and excellent eating and recreational options. Undergraduate students may register and take courses at Ashoka giving them an opportunity to study with Ashoka undergraduates thus offering them a truly global experience in India.

FAQ: Shanghai Jiao Tong University

The International Summer Programs provides excellent opportunities for students to learn about China through academic and cultural immersion. A wide range of courses in various disciplines are provided, accompanied by Chinese language courses.

In addition to academic lectures, local excursions, cultural activities, and field trips are also available for International students. From these extracurricular activities, students will learn more about Chinese culture, history, politics and the latest developments of the country. This is a chance to experience Chinese culture firsthand and to make friends from China and all around the world.

FAQ: Yale-NUS College, Summer LABs

Learning Across Boundaries (LAB) Program. A flagship program at Yale-NUS College, LABs are faculty-led programs of seven to ten days in duration, which offer students unparalleled experiential learning outside of the classroom. These programs allow students to interact with practitioners and professionals, challenge assumptions and perceptions, develop academic and professional skills, and make connections between textbooks and real-world experiences. While LABs are non-credit bearing, students are responsible for delivering a final project or product in the form of a presentation, video, report, publication, etc.

FAQ: Zhejiang University, Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists

The GripS program is co-developed by four esteemed universities in China’s Yangtze River Delta region, namely Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Fudan University in Shanghai and Nanjing University in Nanjing. The program will be held on campus from June to August 2024. Zhejiang University is happy to welcome students from all over the globe to GripS, which offers valuable research opportunities and rich cultural experience.

The program allows students to elevate their undergraduate journey by working closely with esteemed professors at one of the four universities. Students will be able to immerse themselves in a rewarding research experience, discover the region's innovative potential, and become part of a community of global thinkers who are actively shaping the future. Opportunities for cultural interaction will also be provided by the four host universities such as company visits, city tours and Chinese culture events in the Yangtze River Delta region.

FAQ: University of Science and Technology of China, Future Scientist Exchange Program (USTC FuSEP)

The 2024 USTC Future Scientist Exchange Program (USTC FuSEP) will be held at USTC in Hefei, Anhui, China from July 1st to August 25th, 2024. The USTC FuSEP offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge research projects and cultural exchange. The 2024 USTC FusSEP will take place in the form of summer research. Selected participants will work on scientific research projects in experimental teams supervised by USTC professors for 4-8 weeks. Excellent students will be supported by the USTC Fellowship. We are eager to invite your outstanding students to participate in the 2024 USTC FuSEP.
