Yale Summer Session Programs Abroad

Yale Summer Session (YSS) Programs Abroad are intensive in nature, with an entire semester or academic year of course material condensed into a limited number of weeks. The Study Abroad Committee selects applicants who are mature and motivated to participate fully in all aspects of the program, both in the classroom as well as during scheduled trips or activities.

Eligibility Requirements for YSS Abroad Admission:

  • If you are a non-degree-seeking student, you must have a bachelor of arts or science degree
  • You must meet academic pre-requisites as listed on the program page
  • If applying to a language program:
    • Your transcript should show evidence of previous language study—or a valid placement exam result from the current academic year—if applying to a program with a language prerequisite. Students with advanced placement should consult with the study abroad office to determine eligibility.
    • You are not eligible to apply for an elementary language program abroad (L1-L2), if you have already placed into the L2 level of that language
